Founder Father - Kujnana Ummumman (Valliappan)

Kujnana Ummumman, the only son of Kujnana Tharakan, settled at Polachirackal Kizhakkeveed. He was also known as Valliappan and Kettilappan and was the patriarch of the Polachirackal joint family. He was engaged in wholesale trade of opium and tobacco in the districts of Kollam and Kottayam along with his cousins. It was during his time that the Polachirackal family reached the pinnacle of its financial reputation. Later on conflicts among brothers led to the decline of their fortunes and disintegration of the joint family Valliappan, however, lived a glorious until his death. He married from Mavelikara Vadakke Thalackal family. He had only one son, Ummumman Kujnana (Valyachayan).
